Description

Dated 1877. Style of Matthews and Laurie, Inverness. 3

storeys and attic, 8 bays. Classical facade. Finely stugged

coursed rubble; polished ashlar dressings. Centre 2 bays

slightly advanced at 1st and 2nd floors, rising to gabled

pediment with scrolled crest and antefixae. Doors in outer

bays (now glazed as window, to right) with stilted heads and

bracketted cornices supporting balustrade to 1st floor outer

window. 1st floor windows all architraved and corniced with

apron panels, the 2 central and outer with enriched shell

pediments, and all linked by band course with guilloche

moulding. 2nd floor windows with lugged architraves and

bracketted cills, 2 central windows with segmental pediments.

Cast-iron bracket rhones; 4 modern box dormers; corniced

stacks; slate roof.

Modern shop facades at ground floor, arched entrance to side

passage.
