Description
The Drumnadrochit Hotel, designed by Matthews and Laurie in Inverness and dated 1882, is a symmetrical, three-storey, seven-bay building. It is constructed of coursed, tooled rubble with contrasting sandstone ashlar dressings, while the rear is finished with harl pointed rubble. The central entrance features a hoodmoulded door set in a slightly advanced bay, which rises to full height and includes an armorial panel at the second storey, topped by a gablet and cluster chimney stacks. The outer bays are advanced and gabled, each with bay windows that extend to the first floor. Some second storey windows are designed as gabled dormers that rise from the wallheads, featuring two-pane glazing and a slate roof.
