Description
Lyndale House, built around 1830-1840, features extensive additions made shortly after its original construction. The building originally had two storeys and an attic with four bays, which were later extended by two wide bays to the east and two single-storey and attic bays to the west, along with various wings at the rear (south). The exterior is harled with bull-faced rusticated quoins and tooled ashlar dressings. The two central bays of the original house have a gabled attic with a round-headed window and an apex chimney, flanked by round-headed dormers. There is a large projecting porch that is off-centre. The wide two-bay extension to the east is in a similar style, featuring a similar gable and a canted bay window at the ground floor. The windows mainly have lying pane glazing, and the building includes a cornice, a blocking course with end ball finials, as well as end and ridge stacks, all under a slate roof. Additionally, there is a large walled garden at the rear.
