Description

Earlier 19th century, 2 storey and attic corner building with

classical details; 7 bays to Gordon Street and 3 (with now

blocked centre door) to High Street. Painted ashlar ground

floor; dry dashed 1st floor with polished ashlar giant

pilasters at angles (channelled at ground floor), eaves

course and cornice, breaking forward with putative capitals

over 4 bays flanking curve. Arcaded ground floor with moulded

keystones; string course below apron panelled 1st floor

windows. Curved corner bay with decorative cast-iron

balustrade to 1st floor and attic dormer windows. 2 canted

dormers, 4 piended dormers; corniced stacks, slate roof. 2

Provost's lamps at 1st floor.
