Description

1874 for Sutherland and Caithness Railway. Single platform

terminal station. Built of snecked sandstone rubble. Gable

ended train shed with single-storey, lean-to offices ranged

parallel to platform. Entrance to platform in gable under

segmental arch, 2 round-arched windows to left and blind

oculus (?originally for clock) in gable head; lower gabled

projection at right extending to width of offices with 2

round-arched windows and trefoil opening in gable. Train

shed with boarded gable head and elliptical arch extending

over line and platform. Slate roofs, chimneys in wall

dividing platform from offices.
