Description

Wick Railway Station, built in 1874 for the Sutherland and Caithness Railway, is a single platform terminal station constructed with Caithness flags. It features a gable-ended train shed with single-storey lean-to offices positioned parallel to the platform. The entrance to the platform is located in the gable under a segmental arch, with two round-arched windows to the left and a blind oculus, which may have originally been for a clock, in the gable head. To the right, there is a lower gabled projection that extends to the width of the offices, featuring two round-arched windows and a trefoil opening in the gable. The train shed has a boarded gable head and an elliptical arch that extends over the line and platform. The roofs are covered with slate, and there are chimneys in the wall that separates the platform from the offices.
