Description
West End House and the former stables, located on Back Street in Cawdor, date from the later 19th century. This single-storey house features an attic and includes a single-storey, three-bay shop at the east gable. The building is constructed of rubble with tooled dressings.
The house has a central door and three gabletted dormers with finials that break the wallhead. It has eight-pane glazing and corniced end stacks, topped with a slate roof. The shop also has a central door and a further single-storey, three-bay wing that projects at right angles to the rear, which includes a central door as well. The front windows have twelve-pane glazing, while the rear windows have eight-pane glazing, with end stacks and slate roofs.
At the rear, there is a former stable and gighouse, which is a single-storey range made of rubble with tooled rubble dressings. It features a louvred ridge ventilator on its piended slate roof.
