Description
Dated 1861, the Fisherman’s Bothy, located at Dunrobin Mains near Dunrobin Castle, is a single-storey building constructed of rubble with tooled dressings. It has a square central block topped with a steeply pitched pyramidal slate roof, which is finished with a louvred cupola featuring an ogee lead roof and a windvane. A projecting gabled porch is centrally located on the south front. A single-storey, single-bay wing projects from the centre rear of the building, and features a corniced ridge stack. The windows are tripartite and bipartite in design, with some lattice-pane glazing remaining. The roofs are slate and incorporate fish-scale banding. The building was designed by George Devey and is dated 1861.
