Description
Florentine House, located at 53 Hillhead Street in Glasgow, is a classical villa built around 1828. This two-storey building features three bays and is constructed from polished ashlar stone. The entrance is marked by a central Doric doorpiece, which is accessed by a short flight of steps, and there is a cornice blocking course above.
The villa has sash and case windows set within architraves, primarily with 12-pane glazing. The rear and side elevations are made of rubble, accented with ashlar quoins. A semi-extruded stairwell is present, and there are corniced stacks at the ends of the building.
Inside, the villa boasts a stone staircase with cast-iron balusters. The property is also complemented by fluted, capped gatepiers and boundary walls.
