Description
The Boathouse, located in Glasgow Green, Glasgow, was designed by A B McDonald of the Office of Public Works in 1905. This two-storey building has a rectangular plan and is finished with white harling, featuring contrasting rendered banding at the first-floor impost level and a deep band at the eaves. The roof is piended and covered with red tiles, and the windows have small panes.
Many of the openings are set within shallow-arched panels that rise two storeys high, with recessed strips at the angles resembling clasping pilasters. On the river side, the end bays showcase timber framing in the gable heads and have deep cantilevered balconies at the first floor. The building has two-bay flanks, and the ends on the north elevation are also highlighted, featuring smaller openings, including circular ones at the ground level, positioned between the main wall area.
