Description
Batson Street School, built between 1874 and 1875, features an "old Scotch style" design. The building has a long, symmetrical two-storey front with tripartite windows set in shallow, advanced outer gables and crow-stepped inner gables, which also have decorative flues on either side. The rest of the façade consists of single windows, all of which retain their original sash frames with lying panes. The exterior is finished in yellow ashlar and includes string courses and a parapet, topped with slate roofs.
