Rockvilla House, 5-7 Applecross Street, Forth And Clyde Canal, Glasgow

Rockvilla House, located at 5-7 Applecross Street by the Forth and Clyde Canal in Glasgow, was likely built around 1790. This symmetrical, two-storey, three-bay building originally served as a canal manager's house and is situated on a raised site next to the canal at the former north terminus of the Forth and Clyde Canal.

The exterior features an external brick stair that provides access to the upper floor at the rear, a single-storey lean-to on the north gable, and small attic windows at the gable apexes. The building is harled and painted, with moulded surrounds around the windows, a simple eaves course, stone skews, and corniced shouldered stone stacks topped with plain cans. The roof is made of corrugated sheet material, and all windows and the rear entrance have been infilled with blockwork or brick. The structure is supported by steel beam ties at the front and rear elevations.

The interior was last seen in 2013. After suffering fire damage in the late 1990s, the interior was stripped of all internal walls and floors, and the original roof timbers were replaced with steel roof trusses. There are three structural I-beam ties for additional support.
