Description

Dated 1874. 4-storey and basement, 7-bay commercial building, built in unusual eclectic style with symmetrical facade. Grey ashlar, painted at ground, with some mock gilding.

Entrances in outer and central bays of pilastered ground floor, those in outer bays under stilted heads and boldly moulded segmental arches (fronted by columned doorpiece with urns); windows with lipped lintels and rosettes above. 1st floor bays divided by pilasters, paired to centre bay with elaborate carving to capitals supporting cornice; pilastered bipartites in outer bays with pediments. Decoratively lugged architraves to 2nd floor corniced windows. Lipped hoodmoulds to 3rd

floor windows. Bracketted cornice with parapet over outer bays, segmental pediment and 2 stacks to centre.

Return elevation to S in brick. Sash and case windows. 2-leaf iron gates to outer entrances.
