43, 45 Virginia Street, Glasgow

37 and 41 Virginia Street in Glasgow is a symmetrical ten-bay tenement building, dating from around 1817, featuring classical architectural details. The building is constructed of ashlar and includes a base course, a moulded cill course at the first floor, and a main cornice. At the center, there is an arched pend with wrought-iron gates leading to Virginia Court, which is listed separately. The entrances at the third and eighth bays are Ionic pilastered, with fielded panelling on the two-leaf doors of the eighth bay. The outer bays have recessed segmental panels with inset doors. Two of the ground floor windows have been altered to bipartite style. The first floor features recessed arched panels with inset windows at the center, and architraves with incised ornamentation on the flanking windows, while the outer windows have plain designs. The second and third floors have plain windows in each bay. The rear elevation facing Virginia Court is rendered and lined, and the roof is covered with slates. Inside, there are winding stone stairs.
