Hazelwood House, 52 First Gardens, Glasgow

Hazelwood House is a 2-storey villa built in 1882 by J M Munro, designed in the English Jacobean style. The south (garden) and east (main entrance) fronts are finished in stugged and polished ashlar, while the other sides are harled. The symmetrical south front features three bays, with two-storey canted windows in the gabled outer bays and attic lights with dormer heads. The skews are adorned with kneelers and finials. The central section is tripartite, with a door and a bipartite window above, all slightly projecting and topped with a shaped gable. The east front mirrors this detailing and is nearly symmetrical, featuring a gabled inner bay with a Tudor-arched doorway flanked by shafts and sculptured detailing. The house has stacks and slate roofs. There is a 20th-century L-plan wing added to the northeast.
