Description

Raymoyle is a large asymmetrical villa located at 10 Victoria Circus in Dowanhill, Glasgow, dating from the mid-19th century. The building features classical details and consists of two storeys, an attic, and a basement. It is constructed from finely stugged ashlar with smooth rusticated quoins and polished dressings. All windows are sashes with pilastered reveals and plate glass glazing.

The eastern elevation is irregularly stepped. On the left side, there is a single-storey projecting porch made of painted ashlar, which is pilastered and has a mutule cornice and a pierced parapet in the re-entrant angle. The porch features a pilastered round-headed doorway with a glazed fanlight and double-leaf panelled doors, along with a large leaded stained glass window. To the right, there is an advanced bay with a balustraded canted window at the ground level and a tripartite window above.

The southern elevation includes an advanced bay on the right with square projecting windows that rise from the basement, featuring a bracketed balcony at the first floor. The other windows are mainly single light. A band course runs along the first floor cills and eaves, and the building has deeply overhanging timber bracketed eaves. The roof is piended slate with corniced axial and wallhead stacks and tall square chimney cans.

To the north, there is a lower two-storey service wing with three single windows. The western elevation is made of stugged ashlar and features timber brackets supporting a canted timber oriel at the first floor on the left side. The property is enclosed by a coped droved ashlar boundary wall that includes a pair of tall, square ashlar corniced gatepiers.
