494-498 Paisley Road West is an earlier 19th century tenement building that stands three stories tall and features classical details. The exterior is made of stone-cleaned yellow ashlar, which is channelled at the ground level and includes three pilastered doorcases. The upper floors consist of eight bays, with architraved windows that have cill courses. The first-floor windows are arranged in a pattern of 2-1-2-1-2, featuring paired windows topped with consoled pediments. The building also has a cornice and a blocking course, along with pairs of wall-head stacks. The right half of the building has modern glazing, while the left side retains sash windows, with small-paned windows on the first floor. The roof is covered with modern tiles.

The building is set back from the street behind a low ashlar boundary wall.
