7 Pitlethie Road, Leuchars

This is a row of 19th-century cottages located at 7 Pitlethie Road, Leuchars. The cottages are constructed of whin rubble with a slate roof. Three of the cottages have roughly-faced dressings (stugged), five have precisely-faced dressings (drove), and two have dormers with a hip roof (piended). One cottage, number 7, bears the inscription "J B 1810."

The cottages hold special value due to their proximity to the Romanesque portion of the nearby church. Formerly numbered 454, 457-60, and 463, some of the buildings in the row have since been demolished or rebuilt.

The listing recognises the group value of the cottages rather than their individual merits. This means that both the interior and exterior of the buildings are protected as appropriate for their building type. The cottages are now designated as Category C(S), previously Category B, reflecting this group interest.
