Description

1 and 2 Grange Flats, located at Grange Distillery on Grange Road in Burntisland, date from the mid-19th century and have undergone later alterations. This is a two-storey, three-bay flatted dwelling constructed from squared and snecked rubble, featuring long and short quoins and a chamfered doorcase.

On the south elevation, there is a deep-set panelled door with a two-pane fanlight to the left of the center, with a blinded door adjacent to the right. Windows are present in the bays to the right and left, and there is a boundary wall adjoining at the outer right, along with a pedestrian entrance in the screen wall at the outer left. The first floor has three regular windows.

The west elevation features a door at the center with a small later stone entrance porch, and a small window above on the first floor.

The north elevation includes a full-height, flat-roofed projection at the center, with a single-storey uPVC conservatory extending from the advanced face and returning to the right. Windows are located in the bays to the right and left, while the first floor has a window in the center projection and in the flanking bays, with a large traditional rooflight above.

The windows are timber sash and case with a 12-pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered with graded grey slates, and there are coped ashlar skews and ashlar coped stacks with polygonal cans.

Inside, the first floor features decorative plasterwork bordering the landing light, which includes ornate astragals and etched and coloured glass.

The property is enclosed by a low saddleback-coped rubble boundary wall to the south, with coped rubble boundary walls to the east and north.
