Dovecot, Ivy Cottage, Grange Farm House, Burntisland

This is a late 17th-century dovecot, originally a lean-to lectern dovecot, now converted to storage and adjoining a cottage to the west and an outbuilding to the east. The dovecot is rectangular in plan and constructed of random rubble with ashlar quoins and an ashlar rat course. The roof is covered with pantiles and slates, featuring crowsteps and a small brick stack on the outer left side. Some stone nesting boxes are built into the wall.

The south elevation has a blocked central opening, the voussoirs above a square lintel revealing a likely original opening. A later door has been added to the left of the centre, a smaller later opening to the right, and a later glazed window is located centrally above. A wooden stair leads to a door on the north elevation, which is not original.

Originally fitted with 595 nesting boxes, the dovecot was formerly known as Grange Doocot, belonging to the now-demolished Grange Farm.
