Description
The Manse at Limekilns Parish Church, built in 1841, is a symmetrical, two-storey, three-bay, plain classical T-plan building. It is constructed of sandstone rubble with dressed ashlar margins, featuring a raised base and eaves course, as well as vertical margins at the quoins. The principal elevation has a moulded cornice and a narrow, plain frieze.
On the south elevation, the central entrance consists of a panelled door with a pilastered surround and a fanlight above. There are flanking windows on the ground floor and three first-floor windows centred above. To the right, there is a flat-roofed addition, which was formerly a kitchen and toilet block, featuring a door with a fanlight and a window to the right.
The west elevation includes a ground and first-floor window at the far right, and a ground floor window at the far left, with a first-floor window in the left return. There is a two-storey wing at the rear, set back to the left, with a door to the right and a window to the left, along with a small fixed window above the door and a first-floor window to the left.
On the north elevation, there is a ground and first-floor window to the right in the advanced wing, and a door in the left return. A section set back to the left has a ground and first-floor window. To the far left, there is a single-storey addition with a small window to the left and a door to the right.
The east elevation features a plain gable. The interior was not seen in 2000.
The boundary wall is low, made of sandstone blocks with a hedge, and there is a metal gate in front of the entrance door. Steps and the gate lead to the church to the west.
The windows are predominantly 12-pane, lying-pane, timber sash and case. The roof is piended slate with corniced apex stacks on the east and west gables, and polygonal cans. There is also a central wallhead chimney on the rear wing.
