Description
Craigtoun Park Lodge is an early 20th-century building designed by Paul Waterhouse. It is constructed from coursed hammer-dressed pink sandstone with polished ashlar dressings and features a baronial style. The lodge is two stories tall and has a T-plan layout. The west gable front includes a single-storey bow window with five lights, a three-light mullioned window above it with a curving hoodmould, and a keyblocked circular attic vent. There is an arched keyblocked entrance porch on the left, which is connected to a gatepier.
The north elevation, facing the drive, has a small porch portico supported by a Roman Doric column, a half-glazed door, a gable on the left, and a tripartite bay on the ground floor that mirrors the front gable above. A circular turret with a conical slated roof and finial is located at the north-east angle, with a belt at the first-floor level. The rear of the lodge features a lean-to that sweeps into the main roof. The roofs are slated with red tiled ridges, skews, and a central stack. The windows have small-paned metal frames.
The gateway consists of two tall square ashlar gatepiers with checked angles and cornices. To the left of the gatepiers is an arched foot-gate that balances the arch of the porch, which steps down with a scroll to a lower curved wing wall leading to a third gatepier on the road.
