Masonic Hall, Somerville Square, Burntisland

The Masonic Hall in Somerville Square, Burntisland, dates from the late 16th century and underwent significant alterations in the 19th century, becoming a Masonic Lodge between 1914 and 1916. It is a two-storey house situated in an irregular terrace, featuring harled walls with stone cills, painted margins, and a base course. The entrance has a corniced doorcase with stop-roll-moulded arrises.

On the north elevation, there is a deep-set timber panelled two-leaf door with a plate glass fanlight to the left of centre, accompanied by a window to the left and an inset panel to the right. There is a small window and a low door to the outer right, and a window to the right positioned between the floors, with a narrow window to the left at the first floor.

The south elevation includes a projecting gabled bay to the left, which has a prominent modern full-height stack at the centre, flanked by blinded windows at the first floor. There is a door to the outer right with a blind window above it in a flat-roofed extension. All windows on this elevation are blinded.

The building features an 8-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case windows, grey slates on the roof, and ashlar coped skews, crowsteps, and beak skewputts. The coped ashlar stacks have some cans.
