Description
19 Kirkgate in Burntisland is a three-storey pair of tenements built around 1885. The building is constructed from stugged, squared, and coursed sandstone, with harl on the sides and rear, and features ashlar dressings. It has a cill course on the first floor and an eaves course. The windows are tabbed with chamfered arrises, and the door surrounds are roll-moulded, with hoodmoulds over blank panels at the doorways.
On the west elevation, there is a door to the right, which is panelled and has a plate glass fanlight above, with angles chamfered at the head. To the outer right, there are two windows, and to the left, there is one window. There is a lower block to the north with a central door, which is also panelled and features a two-pane fanlight above, with a blank bay above it. There are two windows on both the right and left sides. The first and second floors have a regular pattern of fenestration.
The east elevation has a large stairtower with a sloping roof located to the left of centre, along with regular fenestration. The north elevation features a central door with windows above it on the first and second floors.
The building mainly has a four-pane glazing pattern, with some plate-glass glazing in timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slates. There is a battered base course and a cope to the wallhead stack on the west side, as well as coped ashlar gablehead stacks with cans. The cast-iron downpipes are fitted with decorative rainwater hoppers and fixtures.
