Description
36 Townsend Place in Kirkcaldy is a house built in the late 19th century. It is a two-storey and attic structure with three bays, situated within an irregular terrace. The exterior features small ashlar blocks with stone margins and long and short ashlar quoins, along with base and eaves courses and a stone mullion.
On the north (principal) elevation, there is a broad doorcase that is corniced and pilastered, featuring a deep-set two-leaf panelled timber door at the center. To the right is a window, and to the left is a bipartite window. The first floor has regular fenestration, and there are small piended dormer windows over the outer bays, flanking a 19th-century rooflight.
The windows are timber sash and case, with 4-pane and plate glass glazing. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there is a coped ashlar stack with a thackstane and an ashlar-coped skew to the left. A cast-iron downpipe with a decorative rainwater hopper is located to the right.
The property is enclosed by low saddleback-coped boundary walls.
