Description
32-34 Townsend Place in Kirkcaldy is an early 19th-century tenement that has undergone later alterations. This three-storey, three-bay building is part of an irregular terrace and features a dry-dash exterior with painted margins and rubble on the sides. It has stone mullions.
The northern elevation is symmetrical, showcasing a bracketed, block pedimented doorway at the center. This doorway has a deep-set panelled timber door and a plate glass fanlight above it. There is a window on each floor above the entrance, with a window in the left bay on each floor and bipartite windows to the right. A secondary entrance to the upper floors is located on the outer left, featuring a panelled timber door and a plate glass fanlight.
The windows are fitted with plate glass glazing in timber sash and case frames. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are broad coped ashlar gablehead stacks with cans. A cast-iron downpipe with a decorative rainwater hopper is also present.
The boundary walls are low, saddleback-coped, and harled. On the southern wall, there is a pair of beeboles with a projecting lintel stone.
