Description
14 North Overgate in Kinghorn is a small tenement building dating from the late 18th to early 19th century. It is two stories high and has a five-bay T-plan layout, featuring a nepus gable. The exterior is finished in dry-dash with stone margins and includes base and eaves lintel courses.
On the southwest elevation, the principal entrance is a panelled timber door located in the bay to the right of the center at ground level. There is a window to the outer right and two additional windows in the center and left bays. A pend entrance is situated to the outer left. The first floor has small windows to the right and left of the center, with another small window breaking into the nepus gable at the center. A modern rooflight is positioned abutting the ridge to the right of the center.
The northeast elevation features a gabled T-projection at the center, which has a window to the right of center at ground level and two windows on the first floor.
The northwest elevation is asymmetrical, displaying a blank gable to the right of center and a variety of openings in the recessed wing to the left. The southeast elevation mirrors the northwest elevation.
The building has a 4-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case windows, a slate roof, and harled stacks with cans and thackstanes. The skews are finished with ashlar coping.
The boundary walls consist of semicircular-coped harl and rubble, as well as flat-coped brick walls.
