West Lodge, Carriden House, Bo'Ness

West Lodge at Carriden House in Bo'Ness dates back to 1844. This building was originally a single-storey and two-storey picturesque school for girls and later served as a lodge for Carriden House. It is situated on a sloping site and is primarily constructed from coursed tolled rubble with ashlar margins. The design features chamfered openings, some stone mullions, overhanging eaves, and a half-hipped roof.

On the south elevation, there is a single-storey, two-bay section with an advanced gabled part that includes a tripartite canted bay window dated 1844 on the right side. The north elevation has a window on the ground floor to the right and features a double pile roof. The west elevation shows both single-storey and two-storey elements, with a gable-headed window on the left and a bipartite window with a stone mullion in an advanced half-hipped section on the right. There is also a near-central projecting wing with a piend roof that has an entrance that partly oversails the ground floor.

The east elevation is two-storey and two-bay, featuring a gabled bay on the left with a bipartite window with a stone mullion on the first floor and an arrow slit above it. The building has modern pivot windows, is covered with graded grey slates, and has a concrete ridge stack on the south elevation. Originally, there was a paired ashlar stack with a cornice on the left gable of the north elevation, but only one stack remains.

The interior of the building has been comprehensively modernised.
