The Old Schoolhouse, Packman's Brae, Polwarth

The Old Schoolhouse, located on Packman's Brae in Polwarth, is a single-storey, three-bay building dating from the mid-19th century. Originally a dames' school, it has since been converted into a residential property. The exterior features coursed and painted render on the front and northeast side, while the rear and southwest side are finished with painted rubble and painted long and short dressings. There is a raised base course in parts and projecting cills at the rear.

On the northwest elevation, which serves as the entrance, there is a centrally located timber panelled door with a two-pane fanlight above it, flanked by narrow four-pane side-lights. The outer left bay contains a stone-mullioned bipartite window, while the outer right bay has a single window.

The northeast side elevation has a single window offset to the right of the centre. The southeast rear elevation features a small-paned door in the outer left bay, accompanied by a two-pane fanlight, with single windows in the remaining three bays to the right. The southwest side elevation includes two single windows at ground level.

The building's timber sash and case windows have 8- and 12-pane glazing. It is topped with a grey slate roof, stone skews, moulded skewputts, and cast-iron rainwater goods. The ridge and apex stacks are coped and painted, with various cans present. The interior was not seen in 1998.
