Description
This early 19th century warehouse, located at 29 Waggon Road in Bo'Ness, features late 19th century shopfronts and was restored in 1978 by Falkirk District Council. It is a five-storey, four-bay rectangular building that has been converted into flatted dwellings with shops on the ground floor, forming an irregular terrace to the west. The structure is built of rubble with ashlar margins and rusticated quoins. The south elevation has a pilastraded shopfront, complete with a deep base course, frieze, and ground floor cornice, as well as an eaves course.
On the north elevation facing Waggon Road, there is a round stair tower that projects at the center, featuring a narrow window on each floor above the ground level and a part-glazed timber door on the left side at ground level. The four flanking bays are regularly fenestrated, although the ground floor window on the left is partially blocked.
The south elevation, facing North Street, showcases a full-width pilastraded shopfront at ground level, which includes a central two-leaf panelled timber door with a plate glass fanlight above, two display windows, and an additional door to the right, along with a central shop door to the left. Each floor above has four regularly spaced windows, with the fourth-floor windows being smaller.
The east elevation features a window at ground level, with part-blocked hoist openings on each floor above and windows in the flanking bays. The building has a four-pane glazing pattern in timber casement windows, dating from the 1978 restoration. The roof is piended and covered with slate, and there are coped squared rubble merlon-like wallhead stacks.
