Description
Unitas Buildings is a 3-storey tenement dated 1906, originally erected by the Thornliebank Co-operative Society. The building’s facade curves to the street. It features a series of prominent wall-head gables, each two bays wide, with flue-bearing cross-walls; a single bay dormer-head is located on the left-hand side. The building is constructed of polished yellow ashlar, with the exception of the north flank and rear, which are of yellow brick. Most windows are bipartite with curved cills, each featuring a central corbel, and contain plate glass sashes. Shops are located at each corner. The south corner bay has a canted design and a wavy parapet. An attic room is present, with a leaded, bell-cast roof. Wall-head stacks are positioned alongside each elevation, with the south flank also featuring polished ashlar. The roofs are slate.
