Luffness Kennels And Cottage, Luffness House

This is a mid-19th century cottage and kennels, located beside Luffness House. The cottage is a single-story building with an attic, constructed of squared and snecked dark whinstone with contrasting droved ashlar dressings. It features hoodmoulds over the ground floor windows. A central door is topped with a strip fanlight, with an advanced gabled bay to the left featuring a window at ground level and an attic window. A window is positioned at ground level to the right, with a modern gabled dormer above. Each gable end has two windows at ground level and one window to the attic. A modern single-story extension has been added to the rear, and the windows contain modern plate glass glazing. The roof is covered with purple slates and includes crowstepped gables and paired coped ashlar diamond stacks. The kennels, which are constructed of similar materials and in a similar design, are listed separately. A map of Haddingtonshire from 1892 shows the buildings in their original setting.
