Description
25 East Road in North Berwick is a two-storey, five-bay house built around 1800. It was reconstructed in 1954 from two earlier houses by the Burgh Surveyor. The exterior is harled with painted margins and features raised cills.
On the southeast elevation, there is a panelled door with a strip fanlight set deep in the centre of the original eastern house. Windows are present in the flanking bays and above, while the former door of the house to the west has been replaced by a window, with a blank space above it.
The northeast elevation includes a U-plan stair projection with an entrance to No 23 at the foot and a small barred light above, along with a generous window above. There is also a full-height later canted bay in the outer west bay.
The house features small-pane glazing patterns in the sash and case windows, a slate roof, and both ridge and west gable stacks.
