1 The Quadrant, North Berwick

Earlier to mid 19th century. Curved terrace of 2-storey houses, stepping down from nos 1 to 5. 3-bay houses, 2 bays at no 9. Squared, coursed and stugged rubble, painted. Nos 2, 4 with painted margins only. Rendered at rear. Raised cills. Variety of glazing patterns. Deep set panelled doors with fanlights. Variety of doorpieces. Plain skews and mutual gable stacks. Slate roofs. Variety of extensions and alterations at rear, mostly 19th century.

PARAPET WALLS: low with coping to front gardens.

NO 1: 2 canted bays added 1903 at ground floor, flanking door with consoled cornice. Plate glass glazing. Rooflights added 1957.

NO 2: consoled corniced door. Horizontal glazing.

NOS 3-5: pediments to doors, consoled at nos 3 and 4, pilastered at no 5, flanking tripartites at ground floor. 4-pane glazing pattern.

NO 6: pilastered doorpiece. Full-height canted bay added to right, 1897, with 4-pane and plateglass sash windows. Small-pane to remaining windows.

NO 7: pilastered doorpiece. Advanced window bay at ground floor to left. Blind central 1st floor sash window. Small-pane glazing.

NO 8 (DUNELM): consoled cornice and chamfered arrises to door surround. Blind central sash window at 1st floor. 4-pane glazing.

NO 9: 2-bay street elevation. Raised margins with cornices at ground floor and corbel supports at 1st floor. 6-pane upper and plate glass lower sashes. Entrance from N by Quadrant Lane.
