Description
This is a two-storey terrace of eight houses, numbered 2 to 8, located on Belgrave Gardens. Numbers 2 to 7 are stucco-faced and feature pilaster strips, while number 1 is a later addition constructed from exposed grey-brown stone with bathstone dressings. All houses originally had slate roofs, though numbers 2 and 7 now have modern tiles, and flat-roofed dormers are present on numbers 3, 4, 5, and 8. A pierced parapet, designed to resemble a balustrade, sits above the entrances, and is supported by a bracketed cornice. Rectangular chimneys made of yellow brick are a notable feature.
Numbers 2 to 7 are arranged as three mirrored pairs, with doors grouped centrally in slightly recessed positions. The ground floor features original panelled doors with inserted glazing, each with a rectangular overlight, set back within a recessed porch, which has a dentil cornice and columns. Flatter, splayed bays are located on either side of the doors. The first floors have narrow sash windows in the centre, flanked by broader sash windows; numbers 4 to 7 feature marginal glazing.
Number 8 is a larger, double-fronted house built in the same style, but with modern glazing. Number 1, the stone addition, has a tripartite hornless sash window on its first floor to the left and a hornless sash window to the right. On the ground floor, the entrance doorway on the right has a pedimented stone doorcase, overlight, and a splayed bay extending to the left. A large 12-pane hornless sash window is positioned to the right, facing Belgrave Lane. Additional features include two small windows at the eaves, a 16-pane hornless sash window on both the first and ground floors, and a doorway at the end of an extension with a monopitch roof.
