Description
The Fletcher Memorial Fountain, built around 1904, is an angel-topped memorial dedicated to John Fletcher of Saltoun, who lived from 1827 to 1903. It is located on an island at a road junction and is made of Portland stone. The fountain features a vermiculated base that supports an octagonal dais with a bronze plaque and inscriptions. There are decorative half drinking bowls on the north and south sides, along with a tap on the west side. Above this, a squat octagonal shaft displays the Fletcher coat-of-arms on the east side, and it is crowned by three classically draped angels holding "Alleluia" sashes.
