1 Saltoun Cottages, Main Street, East Saltoun

2 Saltoun Cottages is an early 19th-century L-plan single-storey terrace that was restored in 1892. Originally consisting of four cottages, it steps up along Main Street. The building is constructed of rubble with ashlar dressings and features a 4-pane glazing pattern in the sash and case windows. The bipartite windows have timber mullions. The roof is covered with red pantiles and has slate eaves easing courses, along with ashlar coped skews and gable end stacks, and beak skewputts.

On the west elevation, there are three identical three-bay cottages facing the roadside. Each cottage has a central doorway framed by a classical doorpiece that breaks the eaves, featuring a blocking course and a tablet; the door is set within a recessed segmental panel. To the left of each doorway is a bipartite window (enlarged in 1892), and to the right is a single window. The cottage at 1 Main Street, to the north, was formerly a separate building and is now adjoined at right angles. It has a gable end facing west, which is slightly advanced, and features a bipartite window and a shield in the gablehead, initialled JF. This cottage also has three bays, each with a window.
