Garden, Pogbie House

Pogbie House is a 2-storey, 3-bay farmhouse built around 1850 in a plain Tudor style. It features a lower 2-storey service wing that is set at right angles to the main structure, and a flat-roofed single-storey billiard room addition on the west side, added around 1925. The house is constructed with cream sandstone ashlar on the side elevations and droved dressings, while the north elevation is squared and coursed. The rear and service wing are finished in harling. The building has a base course and chamfered reveals.

On the north elevation, there is a slightly recessed central bay that includes a four-centred doorway with a hoodmould and label stops, a fanlight, and a panelled door, with a small window above on the first floor. The gabled outer bays each have canted windows on both the ground and first floors, and there are blank shields in the gableheads.

The east and west elevations are also gabled. The flat-roofed addition features a tripartite window on the north side and a canted bay on the west. The rear wing extends 3 bays in depth and is attached to the east side, with irregular openings.

The sash and case windows have small and horizontal-pane glazing patterns, while the canted additions on the north side have plate glass. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are gablet copings on the skews with bracketted skewputts. The building has four corniced polygonal chimney stacks on the east and west elevations.

Inside, the house features coarsely detailed plasterwork and a scale and platt stair. Additionally, there is a high rubble garden wall located to the southeast of the house.
