Description

Elmbank and Walney are a pair of semi-detached houses dating from the mid to later 18th century, each two stories high and featuring three bays. They are constructed from stugged rubble with harl pointing.

Elmbank, located to the north, has three bays on its west side that are grouped towards the center. The ground floor features a doorway flanked by windows, while there is a window in each bay on the first floor, with the center window being smaller. The rear includes enlarged timber mullioned bipartite windows on the outer left and a stair window at the center, along with regular windows in the outer left bay. A modern harled garage addition with a piend roof is located at the ground level on the north end elevation.

Walney, situated to the south, is narrower than Elmbank and also has three bays on its west side. It features a doorway at the center and a window in each of the flanking bays, with the right bay having enlarged timber mullioned bipartite windows. The rear elevation is irregular and includes a modern addition at ground level. The windows are a mix of 12-pane, 4-pane, and plate glass in sash and case style. Elmbank has modern slates on the roof, while Walney has grey slates. Both houses have deeply coped skews and end stacks, with some brick repairs noted.

Additionally, there is a rubble-coped retaining wall to the west.
