Description

The Little Elms and The Elms are a pair of late 18th-century houses situated on The Square. They are constructed of coursed rubble and have slate roofs. The houses are broadly similar in appearance, but their window arrangements differ slightly. Each house is two stories with an attic, featuring a paired sash window on the ground floor and two separate windows above, all with stone architraves. The Little Elms has a modern glazed front door and a through passage. The Elms has a four-panelled front door with a rectangular window above it, and a blocked through passage. Both houses have steeply pitched roofs; The Little Elms has three modern gabled dormers and a brick chimney stack, while The Elms has a long, modern dormer and two end chimney stacks.

At the rear, The Little Elms has a large gabled chimney stack. The Elms has a prominent three-and-a-half-story gable with mullion windows. Inside The Elms, a section of a turned baluster staircase, dating to around 1700, remains.
