Description
Part of the premises of Wye Antiques dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It is built of coursed rubble and features a Cotswold stone roof. The building runs along the street with a projecting rear wing. It has two storeys and four windows, with stone mullion and transom cross casements. The bottom right pair of windows has a continuous drip mould. The ground floor on the left has been altered, with a small shop front and doorway now converted to a window. There is an ashlar ridge stack. Originally, the building was L-shaped, but the range to the west has been removed, exposing the former kitchen range. A part of the carriageway has been filled in, hiding two four-light mullion windows, one of which has a king mullion and drip. Inside, there is a good Tudor arch fireplace with carved spandrels and masks on the first floor, which was originally located on the ground floor. In the attic, the landing of a staircase from around 1700 with heavy trussed balusters still remains.
