Description

Late 18th century, this is a combined dwelling formed from two single-storey cottages, with a 3-bay single-storey cottage containing an attic and workshop set at a right angle to the rear. The exterior is built of random rubble, with altered openings framed by concrete and brick margins. The front, facing Main Street, has a door and two windows to the left, and a single window to the right, all featuring 2-pane sash and case glazing. A blank gable faces east. The building was extended at the rear. The roof is covered in red pantiles with straight skews, and features brick stacks. References to the building can be found in M King's "Athelstaneford" (1987), The Statistical Account of 1799, and a Gilmerton Estate Plan from 1784 (RHP 1393).
