Stoneyhill House, Musselburgh

Stoneyhill House is a small mansion built in the mid to late 18th century, with two distinct building periods and later additions and alterations. It features a high walled garden to the south and west, which is accessed through segmental arched vehicular and foot gateways with solid timber doors. The house is two storeys tall with attics and has an elongated rectangular plan, measuring seven windows wide on the southeast front.

The southwest end has a flat roof that extends up to the eaves of a slate piended roof, while the northeast end is gabled with a short piended roofed single-storey extension beyond. A square, gabled porch projects from the front and partially overlaps the second and third windows from the southwest. The exterior is harled with raised margins around the windows and doors. The first-floor windows are six-pane sashes, with one smaller window at the northeast end. The ground floor features reglazed double and single pane sashes, except for two smaller windows towards the northeast end. The rear elevation includes a bowed stair projection topped with a semi-conical roof.
