11 Craigielaw Farm Cottages, Craigielaw

The building comprises a symmetrical row of six single-storey farm cottages, dating from circa 1835 and part of the Wemyss Estate. The cottages are arranged in a shallow U-plan, with a central pend. They are constructed from squared and snecked sandstone with ashlar dressings, featuring hoodmoulds above the main openings. The design is in a neo-Tudor style, reminiscent of Bothy Cottage within the Gosford estate.

The cottages are arranged in pairs flanking the Tudor-arched pend, with a central door flanked by windows in each cottage. Each cottage has two piended dormers in the attic. The end cottages are L-plan, with doors located on their inner returns. Later lean-to porch additions are present at the rear. The original sash and case windows have a 12-pane glazing pattern on the ground floor, and 4-pane glazing in the dormers. The roofs are piended, with grey slates, an ashlar coped ridge, and wallhead stacks. A low harled retaining wall with crenellated rubble coping encloses the front gardens. Some later windows have been inserted, these with cement-rendered surrounds.
