Description

This is an 18th-century mounting block situated on the High Street in Aberlady, outside the churchyard to the west of the main gates. The block is constructed of four sandstone steps, topped with a large slab of stone. It is also referred to as the Loupin-on Stane. The structure is of group value, contributing to the character of the area. Details of the block are recorded in J Martine’s Reminiscences and Notices of Fourteen Parishes of the County of Haddington (1890) and C McWilliam’s Lothian (1978).
