Description
Shell Cottage is an 18th-century, single-story, three-bay cottage located on High Street, Aberlady, set back from the road. A former outbuilding was incorporated to the east, extending the property to four bays. The walls are white-painted harl with black margins. The front features a central door, with windows on either side of the three-bay section, and another window in the additional bay to the far right. A skew line divides this final bay. The windows are sash and case style with a 12-pane glazing pattern. The roof is steeply pitched, covered in red pantiles, with a coped skew and a rendered shouldered stack. The cottage is flanked by adjoining houses. An Ordnance Survey map from 1854 shows the property.
