Description

The Town Wall on Back Lane in Aberlady dates from the 18th and 19th centuries. It is a boundary wall made of random rubble, measuring approximately 510 metres long, with a coped and stepped design. The wall incorporates early fabric from an earlier town wall, which can be seen at the lower level. In the eastern section of the wall, there are some later 19th century outbuildings that have been integrated into the wall's structure. Additionally, there are several timber boarded doorways at irregular intervals along the wall.
