Description

The Shore, formerly known as the Foresters Arms, is a late 18th century three-storey building located at the angle of converging streets in Dunbar. It has an adjoining wing to the north, which is five bays wide, two storeys tall with a basement, and includes a single-storey, single-bay section that abuts it. The exterior is primarily constructed of rubble, mostly rendered on the street frontages, and features pantiled roofs. The main blocks have plain, raised skews.

The south front, which serves as the entrance, is three bays wide and situated on sloping ground, featuring an off-centre door. It has painted margins with raised cills at both the first and second floors, and the windows include plate glass and 12-pane sashes. The building is accentuated by raised quoins and a band course above the ground floor.

On the east gable, there are two ground floor windows, smaller windows on the first floor, and a gable light. The north elevation, which is the rear of the building, has been significantly altered due to extensions. It features a steeply gabled rubble stair block at the back of the main block, which includes two pigeon loft openings.
