Description
The Forester's Arms is a public house that dates from the 17th or 18th century, with its front remodeled in the late 19th century. It is constructed of stucco with a plinth and features a steep red asbestos slate roof that has eaves projecting over large stucco consoles. The building has two hipped dormers with casement windows. It has a double-depth plan with two unequal rooms at the front, which flank a through passage that has been converted into one room. The building stands two storeys plus an attic and has a four-window range. The first floor has 20th-century eight-pane horned sash windows. On the ground floor, there is a wide 20th-century transomed tripartite window on the left and a 20th-century sash window on the right. The entrance features a pilastered doorway with a moulded hood on consoles, situated beneath the third window from the right, and includes an overlight and a pair of panelled doors. Inside, the bar area retains some remains of a moulded cornice in the front right-hand room and a few old doors, although the rest of the interior has not been inspected.
