Description
Legassick House is a late 18th-century town house located on the south side of Fore Street in Plympton St Maurice. The building features incised stucco with a plinth and a steep dry slate roof that has a dentilled eaves cornice. It has brick end stacks, some of which retain old clay pots. The house has a double-depth plan, likely consisting of two unequal-sized rooms at the front that flank an entrance hall. It stands two storeys high and has a four-window range. The original windows are 12-pane hornless sashes made with much crown glass. To the left of the centre, there is a mid-19th-century moulded pilastered doorway with a moulded hood supported by consoles, leading to an original six-panel door with fielded panels. The interior has not been inspected, but a previous description notes that there are two ground-floor rooms featuring decorated plaster ceiling cornices and friezes.
